According to Google Analytics, one of the most popular posts on JoeWoodOnline, especially this time of year, is one from almost three years ago tomorrow. Track Santa Tonight detailed back in 2007 how your family could track Santa’s arrival using Google Earth and NORAD.
“Santa Tracker is up and running now that Santa is out delivering his presents. You can download the Santa Tracker file for Google Earth at the Google Earth Blog or NORAD’s Santa Tracker website and track him on your own. As of 1pm Pacific it looks like he is currently over Cameroon, but he moves fast!”
This morning I took a look at the NORAD website and there are a couple of updates since 2007. First of all, you can visit Santa’s Village at the North Pole. Secondly, you no longer need a computer with internet access to check Santa’s current location. According to the NORAD page, a web-enabled phone with Google Maps will work perfectly. Just launch Google Maps and type in “Santa” to see where he’s currently delivering presents. Santa tracking starts tomorrow morning at 2AM Eastern or actually, really late for us tonight here on the West Coast. Perhaps you’ll see Santa in one of these new fabulously designed sleighs?
PS: A couple of follow ups…
