This past week Lisa and I presented the NECC conference in San Diego with John and Burt. Before our presentation Lisa and I attended some other meetings and picked up a bunch of great ideas and resources. Over the next few weeks I will be posting some of them here.
One of the first resources we stumbled across is called Teachers’ Domain. This website is produced through a grant by WGBH in Boston and consists of free (yes, that is correct…FREE) multimedia resources specifically for science and social studies instruction. After creating an account on Teachers’ Domain you can access video clips from NOVA, American Experience, Frontline, and other public broadcasting resources. Each of the video clips correlate to state and national standards. The Teachers’ Domain website also contains audio clips, images, and lesson plans that can be used in the classroom. Currently, Teachers’ Domain provides resources in the areas of life science, physical science, engineering, earth and space science for science teachers. For social studies teachers, the website contains a phenomenal collection of resources related to the Civil Rights movement in the United States.
When you have a moment, sign up for a free account. I am confident you will be impressed.
