Students Speak on Digital Learning Day

Tomorrow is the first annual Digital Learning Day sponsored by the Alliance for Excellent Education.  Numerous national, state, and local organizations have joined to celebrate this day of 21st Century learning through a variety of events across the country.  Should you be in the Sacramento area tomorrow afternoon and evening, consider stopping by the Capitol Plaza Holiday Inn.  From 4-6:30pm students and teachers from all over California will be sharing their use of digital learning tools along the theme of “Writing Our Future: A Celebration of Students’ Digital Learning & Writing.”  This event, organized by the California Writing Project, will consist of 21 table top sessions where students and teachers will provide community members, educators, and elected officials a look into their digital leanring lives.  The topics are divers and include the following sessions:

  • iPads as a Tool for Learning Mandarin Langauge & Culture
  • Creating Digital Media Using the iPod Touch
  • Celebrating Writing in Science
  • Bringing English Classes into the Facebook Era
  • Using Wikis to Create an Interactive Periodic Table
  • Connecting Students via Edmodo
  • Content Area Writing with Google Earth
  • Empowering Student Writers through Video
  • Student Blogging
