Particle Accelerator in Google Earth

During the past few weeks we have been talking about atoms and atomic structure in my 8th grade classes. As we talked about electrons, neutrons, and protons along with forces at work in at atom the topic of particle accelerators came up. While my knowledge of these machines is somewhat limited I did attempt to explain to my students the large size of some of these devices and a basic description of how they work. Today I noticed on the Google Earth Blog that a GE 3D modeler, Joey Wade, developed a Google Earth file demonstrating the Large Hadron Collider now being built near Geneva, Switzerland. When you have a moment download the file and take a look.  It even has a nifty little animation.
