Today via Techlearning I stumbled across HippoCampus. I may very well be the last person on the planet to hear about it, but it was so good I had to create a post. This fantastic, free website is a product of the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education and contains a collection of multimedia tutorials for students and teachers. The topics provided are quite large, ranging from Algebra to US History and Physics. Users may browse for tutorials via subject areas or by specific textbook. For instance, 8th grade Algebra students who are using Algebra 1 Classics by Prentice Hall can find tutorials correlated to specific parts of their textbook. Teachers may also create custom HippoCampus pages for their students. While much of the content is geared towards high school students, there are still quite a few resources for junior high kids.

Joe, great posts! I’m wondering if you have resources that may help me teach remedial fraction/measurements to the 16th or 32nd of an inch. I’m needing help with teaching technique or strategies and curriculum. I teach technology/wood at savage and am not prepared for kids with serious dificulties on reading a ruler / reducing fractions. Thanks, Otto
Excellent resource, Joe – Thanks!
