Today’s the last day of summer vacation – for me. Of course, I’ve already been back working in my room, but tomorrow is my first official day back. I can already hear a few of you hyperventilating and digging for a paper bag with just the thought that a colleague is returning to the classroom. “How could it be? He’s already going back? Yikes – does that mean my summer’s almost over too?”
Well, to give you a little space to catch your breath – I’m going back for a week of professional development. I’m not meeting my new crop of students until next week – on the 18th.
I know that this time of year is always very stressful for me. There never seems to be enough time to get everything completed and I never feel as prepared as I hope to be. However, two weeks into the school year, once both the students and I have our routines down, the back-to-school stress will disappear and I will realize all is fine. As I was reading through my Bloglines account this morning I found this post – 101 Ways to Cope with Teaching Stress. Its definitely worth reading, bookmarking, and digging out again when things get a little hairy from time to time during the year.

I start into my new job on Thursday. (They wanted me last Friday…but I put them off for a week…whew.) So, I feel your pain at seeing the end of summer holiday.
Thanks for the “101…” link. Great stuff!
