Converting Units

Have you ever needed to know how many kilobytes are in a gigabyte? Have you ever been asked by a student how many miles per hour is 100 meters per second? Well, this is the site that can tell you that information…quickly. Asknumbers.com (http://www.asknumbers.com/) is a very easy to use online conversion website. All you have to do is type in a number, select your current units along with the units you want your number to be converted to, and click “convert.” This website has the ability to convert basic units like distance and mass along with more challenging conversions related to power, torque, and data transfer. It is a great tool for getting students to think about conversions and to check their more traditional pencil and paper answers. Thanks to Rod Compton, a fellow teacher, for sharing this site with me.
