I wish Salk and the district could take this approach; however, I wonder how he started this process. How did he get buy-in? Where did he start? Who did he recruit?
Recently at strategic planning we discussed the problems at Salk and how to address them and getting buy-in seems to be a huge issue. I firmly believe people want to do what's best for the kids but when faced with the reality that it's not easy most people back down. That sucks (to be blunt). If there was a way to make it "user friendly" it might be easier to implement. I also believe people's egos need to be left at the door which is hard in an environment when people aren't communicating openly and honestly about the real issues. Push the B.S. aside and real progress might be made.
