Yesterday in between a few short test-score talks my superintendent showed the audience Karl Fisch and Scott McLeod’s “Did You Know?” video and introduced his new blog. Chances are that if you are reading my blog, you have already seen this video and you might have even used it in one of your own presentations. I have seen the video before and while I love the content, what was even more exciting was watching my colleagues react to it. For a few minutes all eyes were glued to the screen and you could hear a pin drop in the auditorium. I could tell few of them had seen it before.
The video sparked tons of conversations that have lasted into today and it reminded me that sometimes we have to make sure we aren’t just “preaching to the choir.” Sometimes we have to make sure the rest of the members of our congregation have the opportunity to hear the message as well.
This afternoon I had two administrators and a teacher who were so inspired by yesterday’s presentation they they wanted to know more about blogging, creating videos, and that “Web 2.0 thing.” That was music to my ears.
