A Kindle for Every California Student

Kindle vs. Kindle DXIn case you missed it, yesterday Governor Schwarzenegger launched an initiative to make California the first state in the nation to offer schools free, open-source digital textbooks for high school students. The goal is to ensure these books are available to high school math and science students this fall. Here is a link to the full press release sent out by the Governor’s Office yesterday.

I’m curious how students are going to consume these open-source digital textbooks. iPhones? iPods? Laptops? Kindles? Perhaps its no coincidence Amazon released a new version of the Kindle yesterday targeted at textbooks. Its certainly going to be interesting to watch this unfold…and we have a front-row seat on this one.
